Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Smith Robinson ("we", "us") handles information when you visit diskolabs.org (the "Site"). DISKO Labs is a marketing and download site for our desktop and creative tools, and we designed it to collect as little as possible.
The short version
- No advertising trackers, no third-party analytics, and no cookies for visitors.
- We don't sell or share your personal information.
- We keep lightweight, privacy-preserving visit statistics and never store your raw IP address.
- If you leave your email when you download something, we keep it with the tools you downloaded. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
- Accounts, cloud storage, and purchases happen on disko.media, which has its own privacy policy.
What we collect on this Site
Visit statistics. When you load a page we record a single line containing: the time, the page or app viewed, the referring website (domain and page address, never its query string), any campaign tag you arrived with (for example ?ref=newsletter), whether you are on a computer, a phone or a tablet, and a short, irreversible token derived from your IP address, browser, and the current date. That token lets us count unique daily visitors without storing your IP address, and it ties together the pages you view on the same day, so we can see the path a visit takes (for example homepage, then an article, then a download). It changes every day, so visits on different days cannot be linked to each other or to you. The data lives in a plain log file on our own server and is not shared with anyone.
disko.media. Our sister site disko.media reports its page views to the same statistics in the same form: the page, the referring website, the campaign tag and the daily token. When you download a tool there, it also reports which tool, the country your connection appears to come from, and the first disko.media page you landed on.
Download emails. When you download a tool you can choose to leave your email address so we can send an occasional email when we ship updates and new apps. Leaving it is optional and your download starts either way. We keep the address with the tool you downloaded, the time, and how you arrived (the referring website and campaign tag of that visit) — not the pages you browsed. We never sell or share it, every email we send lets you unsubscribe, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.
Email. If you email us (for example via a contact or "notify me" link), we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to reply.
Admin sessions. A single session cookie is used only by the Site owner to sign in to the private admin area. Visitors are never issued cookies.
What we do not collect
We don't run Google Analytics, advertising pixels, social "like" trackers, or any cross-site tracking. We don't build visitor profiles that last beyond a day, we don't link your browsing to your email address, and we don't store your raw IP address or precise location.
Third-party services
- Fonts. The Site loads the Outfit typeface from Google Fonts. When it does, your browser contacts Google's servers, which may receive your IP address. See Google's privacy policy for details.
- Hosting & downloads. Our web host and file/content-delivery providers process standard server logs in order to deliver the Site and app downloads.
- disko.media. Cloud features, accounts, and purchases are provided through disko.media and are governed by its own privacy policy and terms.
Our apps
DISKO desktop tools are local-first: they run on your computer and your media stays on your drive unless you choose to use a cloud feature. Data handled inside the apps is governed by the app's End User License Agreement and, where cloud sync is enabled, the disko.media privacy policy.
Data retention
Visit statistics are retained only as long as useful for understanding traffic and are pruned periodically. Download emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Emails you send are kept as long as needed to assist you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because this Site stores no raw IP address and no account data, we usually hold little or nothing that identifies you beyond an email address you chose to leave. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes are reflected by the "last updated" date above.
