Put Balance on a clip, or on one adjustment layer over a whole edit, and every shot is evened out to a clean, consistent Rec.709 look. Exposure is set without clipping highlights (they roll off softly) and without brightening a moody shot that is already right; white balance reads the grays in the frame; and faces are found (on macOS) so skin lands on a natural tone in every shot, whichever camera shot it. Choose a hero frame and every other shot takes on its look. Skin Tone sets how pink or golden skin should be overall, and eleven Looks (Teal & Orange, Blue Night, Moody Forest and more) go on top of the balance with skin protected. Everything is smoothed over time so the grade never pumps. It does its best work on footage that is already in Rec.709, so convert camera log with the LUT from the camera maker first; the Input menu can read common logs (S-Log3, LogC3, V-Log, Apple Log) as a rough starting point, not a replacement for that conversion.
Side A What it does
- Built for Rec.709 footage; Input reads common camera logs as a rough starting point
- Exposure with a soft highlight shoulder: no clipping, low-key shots kept low-key
- White balance from neutrals and faces (faces found on macOS); skin-tone line correction with a Skin Tone slider (pink to golden)
- Match every shot of an edit to a hero frame
- Eleven look presets on top of the balance, with skin protection and a Look Amount
- Temporal smoothing (0 to 3 s) with cut-aware weighting
- Protect Warm Light keeps golden light golden
- Analysis region controls
- Deterministic: the same result on every render
